Mental health and/or substance use at home is impacting a child that I am working with

The child doesn't want help with it.
​

If children are in the home, mandatory reports are made about suspected abuse or neglect to the Department of Social Services (828-265-8100).  Whenever it is safe, empower the child to make this call.
​

​- Make a referral to the Department of Social Services to make a Child Protective Services Report
       – Case workers may be able to  support to find resources (with recognition of the stigma/fear around that option)
