Watauga Community Mental Health Project
Community Resource Guide

Our Mission is to create connections that increase the quality of life and prevent loss of life.
We do this by:
Raising community awareness around addictions, mental illness, and mental wellness resources and supports through frequent community engagement, shattering stigma about mental health and addictions, and by promoting opportunities for conversations about mental health and ways to support our residents.

Our hope is that all people in Watauga County have the knowledge and resources to access affordable, timely,
mental health care to achieve mental wellness, and are fully included in the life of the community
regardless of their level of mental wellness.

We are continuously working to update and grow this resource guide.

Struggling with something specific?

We are here to help.

Community members came together to create roadmaps for some of the issues individuals in our community are facing. We worked to create a pathway forward for anyone experiencing the following.
Click the links below to learn more about what can be done in regards to each topic.

Our next step: Identifying and fulfilling gaps in services in our community.
  • I HAVE A CLIENT THAT NEEDS MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT BUT CANNOT GET IN WITH A PROVIDER AND/OR DOES NOT HAVE INSURANCE

  •  I KNOW A CHILD WHO IS IMPACTED BY MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES/SUBSTANCE USE AT HOME

  • SOMEONE I KNOW NEEDS INPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH OR SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT

  • I AM WORKING WITH LGBTQ YOUTH THAT NEED SUPPORT/RESOURCES

  • I KNOW AN UNDOCUMENTED FAMILY THAT NEEDS RESOURCES

  • I AM WORKING WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED INFANT LOSS OR PREGNANCY LOSS

  • SOMEONE I KNOW IS STRUGGLING WITH VAPING SUBSTANCES (NICOTINE/CANNABIS/ETC)

  • SOMEONE I KNOW IS AT RISK OF OVERDOSING

  • I AM WORKING WITH A FAMILY THAT IS EXPERIENCING UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS/INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE

  •  I AM WORKING WITH SOMEONE WHO IS STRUGGLING WITH BASIC NEEDS (EXPERIENCING/AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS, EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY ETC.)
